Recently I needed to work on a multi-page pdf file emailed to me by an orchestral librarian, but the images were on their sides. Some scores have needed next to no editing, others I just reinput from scratch because of the work that would otherwise have been needed. I've never tried to read handwritten music with the program. Photoscore can read fairly accurately independent, rhythmically simple lines - such as extracted instrumental parts - if the original scan is absolutely pristine. Piano music and orchestral scores of any rhythmic complexity come out a mess. As for any attemps to read older typeset editions that are not crystal clear (such as the old Bach Gesellschaft and Mozart Ausgabe,) forget it. Bars and beats are often missing, screwing up the synchronization of parts.
This includes scans of excellent, clear typeset editions. About 50% of the scanned scores that I attempt to read with Photoscore are so inaccurate, it is less trouble to input them manually in Sibelius, rather than fix up the mish-mashed notation that Photoscore produces.
